Computers are the most commonly used modern invention of the 21st century. You can find computers in every household and every office across the world. Computers essentially make our lives easier, however, simplification of life often come with some complications.

It is important to realize that computers are very complex and are very difficult to manage if a person is computer illiterate. As a result, they often have some problems while they are in operation.

Below are 2 of the most common problems that are faced with computer users. Keep in mind that you do not need to be a computer technician to solve basic problems that occur when you use the computer.

Slow Start-Up

When people use computers, it is only natural that they install various programs which help them in their lives. However, one of the biggest problems with the majority of programs available in the market is that they have an auto startup directory written into their coding.

In simple terms, the program automatically starts up when the computer starts, whether you want it to start or not. You may not be aware that they are running in the background, however, they are running. Too many programs running in the background causes the computer to slow down exponentially and eventually crash.

In order to ensure that only the programs that you want running are in operation, use the “MSCONFIG” utility which can be accessed by simply going to run and typing in the command mentioned above. The msconfig option essentially allows you to see all the programs that run at start up.

With this information, you can choose which programs start up when the computer boots and which programs should not start up by simply checking and un-checking the start up programs in msconfig.

Malware

This is perhaps the most common problem that computer users face. Whenever a computer is running slower than usual, freezing or crashing, then chances are that the computer is infected with malware. Malware essentially means malicious software which is a simple term for viruses and unwanted adware programs.

Viruses are designed to cause havoc in a computer system. They often are also designed to steal personal data, such as contact information and etc, from a person’s hard drive.
On the other hand, adware is designed to cause unwanted pop-ups and re-directions to take place whenever a person is using the internet. For example, if a person wants to go to Google, because of the adware, they might be lead to some other site such as Yahoo!

The issue with both adware and viruses are that they are designed to be very difficult to remove manually. As such, in order to ensure that your computer is free of any malware, it is important to install anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. These programs ensure that the computer stays free of any infection ensuring that your PC runs smoothly and effectively.

By knowing how to handle common problems that occur when using a computer, a person can easily repair the computer themselves without having to waste money and time on contacting a computer technician.
